Faidley Seafood who have been serving up delicious seafood from their Lexington Market location since 1886 has moved forward with their plans to open up a restaurant and event space in Catonsville. The Baltimore County liquor board commissioners awarded a beer, wine and liquor license to the project on Monday allowing Damye Hahn, daughter of Faidley Seafood owner, Nancy Faidley Devine, to move forward with the purchase of the former Plymouth Wallpaper Co building on Frederick Road. In addition to a first floor restaurant and second floor event space, the Frederick Road location would also serve as the new home for mailing their crab cakes which they’ve done for four decades. The new restaurant wouldn’t open until early next year and their other location will be an anchor in the redeveloped Lexington Market which is should open mid-2021.
Baltimore County’s Restaurant Week will be held January 17 through February 1 with restaurants participating throughout the area. Each participating restaurant will have prix fixe menus ranging from $15-$35, allowing patrons to try some of their most popular dishes. Catonsville has some of its own participating so go out, have a nice meal and try out a new local restaurant!
German discount grocery store Lidl will open it’s Catonsville location on January 22nd with a ribbon cutting ceremony 7:40 am and open its doors officially for customers at 8 am. Giveaways for the first 100 customers are gift cards ranging from $5 to $100 dollars, reusable shopping bags and free samples. The Lidl grand opening will run from January 22nd – 26th.
Kora Polydore, owner and operator of Kora Lee’s Gourmet Dessert Cafe has been baking since she was 5 years old. Over the past fourteen years she has set up shop in Woodlawn, Baltimore’s Mt Washington neighborhood and BWI airport and has decided to move now to 6421 Frederick Road in Catonsville’s Paradise community. In addition to the variety of cakes, pies and muffins, Kora also serves up sandwiches, soups and salads. Her catering menu also includes everything from bagels and muffins to pesto shrimp sandwiches and fettuccine marinara.
Caton Auto Clinic will be holding their annual Veteran’s Day event where past and present U.S. military can sign up to get a free oil change. Saturday, February 16 from 11am-3pm, stores at The Shops at Mellor will offer discounts and deals to customers on this semi-annual event. The idea is to promote shopping local while getting shoppers who frequent one particular store to visit one they might not normally go to.
The stores participating in the event include Cosmic Cosmix & Toys, Peace a Pizza, Babas, Lush 35 Salon, Home Anthology, The Stitching Post, Cloverhill Yarn, and Baltimore Brass Co. Specials and discounts the stores will be offering can be found on the event’s Facebook page.
The Catonsville Chamber of Commerce is helping members promote their businesses through the 2018 Elves in the ‘Ville campaign. From November 24th through December 19th participating retailers will have an elf hidden in their store somewhere. Anytime a customer spots the elf, they are encouraged to fill out an entry form to win one of three grand prize gift card packages.

During Tax Free Week, The Maryland Retailers Association is having a social media contest which will award two winners with a $2,500 and $1,000 scholarship.
